DAD’s Truck Stop goes old school with full service
Most teens spend their summer working at the mall or the movies, but high school senior Chet Ellsworth said he is exercising his passion for cars as a fuel jockey for DAD’s Truck Stop.
“On my first day this lady came in with a Porsche 911 Carrera. That was pretty neat,” he said.
Chet not only fills cars with gas, he cleans windows, checks the oil, and will even run in and pay if you need him to.
“A lot of people come in and say, ‘Man I haven’t seen that in 20 or 30 years,'” he said. “Of course it was prominent in the 50s and still is in Oregon, but a lot of people do like it.”
Peggy Skinner fills up at DAD’s on a regular basis and said this type of dedication to homegrown values is what sets Idaho apart from the pack.
“It’s a step back that I think has been needed for such a long time,” said Skinner. “It makes people want to come visit. They were treated well when they came here and they want to come back.”
The gas station is offering this service free of charge. Customers have the option of providing a tip in addition to the cost of fuel.
