District 93 considers building new high school

The Bonneville Joint School District 93 board met Wednesday to debate whether or not to build a new high school.

School leaders say there are simply too many students at Bonneville and Hillcrest high schools. They’re trying to decide whether to build an entirely new school or to add on to both schools.

“A new school as we tried before is about $52 (million) to $55 million. We can add on additions to the two existing high schools, but particularly at Bonneville, if you add on a $12 million addition, we still have some structural issues with the building we need to deal with,” said deputy superintendent Marjean McConnell.

McConnell said the board will likely come to a decision by September. They hope to get a bond on the ballot by March 2015.
