Bonneville County employees push for pay raise

As Bonneville County commissioners work to put together next year’s budget, one of the things they’ll likely be adding is a cost of living adjustment for the county’s more than 400 employees.

At a commissioners meeting Thursday, employees asked for a 5 percent pay increase. Commissioners offered to meet them halfway with a 3 percent increase.

“That was their wishlist, but, I mean, you can see that they didn’t really have anything really to base that on other than the fact that there’s been several years when times were tight and we haven’t been able to give a cost of living so naturally they would like to catch up a little on that,” said commissioner Roger Christensen.

County commissioners will meet Aug. 26 to unveil next year’s budget and take public comment.

They could approve the budget at that meeting.
