Libertarian for governor weighs in on same-sex marriage ban
John Bujak, who’s running for governor on the Libertarian ticket, said Idaho is wasting money trying to defend its ban on same-sex marriage in an interview with Local News 8 on Saturday.
“Government needs to be as limited as possible, and I don’t think that government should be in the business of telling people how to make choices in their life,” said Bujak. “It’s just simply a fight Idaho can’t win, and to take what Gov. Otter requested — $1 million — to fight this fight, to take that money away from roads or infrastructure or take it away from education is a mistake. It’s a fight Idaho shouldn’t be fighting at this juncture. We just can’t afford to fight it.”
He also spoke out against Idaho’s controversial “ag-gag” law and voiced support for the state taking over federal lands.
A newly released New York Times-CBS News poll shows Otter leading his Democratic opponent, A.J. Balukoff, by 18 points. Three percent of voters surveyed chose “other,” with 13 percent still unsure.
