Standoff ends peacefully in Fort Hall
A Fort Hall man is now in police custody after he barricaded himself in a home most the day Saturday.
Ray Broncho was arrested around 9 p.m. after police and the FBI had been negotiating with him since the early morning hours. They said he was taken into custody without an incident.
Broncho barricaded himself at a home on Lodge Pine street sometime after 3 a.m.
Neighbors were told to evacuate their homes in the area.
Angelo Gonzales, executive director of the Shoshone-Bannock tribes, said earlier in the day shots were fired but not at anyone. They were either shot into the air or into the ground, he said.
The FBI is the lead investigating office in the matter. It hasn’t said what caused police to surround the home.
