Nampa man charged in Bonneville County shooting
A Nampa man has been charged in connection with a July 22 shooting in Bonneville County.
Douglas Heaton, 33, was being held in Bonneville County on other charges. He was served a warrant Friday for aggravated battery, residential burglary and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a crime.
Heaton was being held on $500,000 bond.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s office said Travis Best was shot in the arm at a home at 1481 West Carson. Deputies said a person was visiting the home and let in two other people when the owner was not watching.
Heaton was arraigned on the charges Monday.
He was charged last week after a chase in Ammon and Idaho Falls.
In that case, deputies responded to reports a woman was being hit and threatened by a man holding a gun in a pickup near the Ammon Walmart. The driver, identified as Heaton, fled into several residential neighborhoods in Ammon and Idaho Falls. He lost control at First and Tabor, and the pickup rolled.
He was charged then with trafficking a controlled substance, eluding, and possession of a stolen firearm, all felonies.
