Madison County girl struck by pickup
A Madison County girl was struck by a pickup while riding her bike to elementary school on 2000 North at 3391 West in the Hibbard area Tuesday.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said a man was driving into the sun. He told officers he didn’t see the bikes until he heard a thump.One girl was struck. Two of her friends were with her.
Another driver in a Suburban was also eastbound and heard the girls screaming. She stopped, got out of her car, turned on emergency signals, called 911, and went to help the girls.
The female driver of a Honda travelling east on 2000 North did not see the Suburban and struck it from behind.
An ambulance transported the injured girl to Madison Memorial Hospital for observation. They said she was not seriously injured.
The 20-year-old driver of the Honda was not wearing a seat belt and struck her head against the windshield. She was not transported to the hospital.
The sheriff’s office said the incident is still under investigation, and charges are pending.
