94-year-old man accused of Wyoming camp assaults
A 94-year-old Michigan man awaits extradition to Wyoming amid accusations he molested two boys decades ago at a Jackson Hole youth camp.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports the man’s name is redacted from available court files in Wyoming. However, MI News 26 in Michigan, which is also following this story, tells Local News 8 it has learned the man’s name is William Hartwell Bricker.
He was arrested Tuesday and arraigned Thursday morning.
In the court files, one of the now-grown accusers alleges Bricker molested him when he was his live-in camp counselor at Teton Valley Ranch Camp during the summer of 1962. The other accuser alleges Bricker molested him during a four-day stint at the camp during the summer of 1985.
Teton County authorities say they learned of the allegations after one of the victims reported the matter to the Boy Scouts of America.
The accuser says Bricker was his scoutmaster at the time.
In a statement Thursday, the TVRC Education Foundation, which owns Teton Valley Ranch Camp, said it did not own the camp during the time the abuses allegedly occurred, and the current owner and manager is not under investigation. The foundation said it has measures designed to protect children from sexual abuse and is cooperating with authorities.
