Missing girl found in Pocatello

Pocatello police said the toddler missing in Pocatello has been found.

Heather Kuuipomaikalani Bybee of 3518 Jason Ave. was reported missing Friday morning. She was last seen near her home at around 7 a.m.

At 12:30 p.m., two Pocatello Police employees were assisting in a door-to-door search in the 3600 block of Jason. While checking a house, Evidence Technician Aida Carrillo heard a child crying.

Detective Scott Long followed the sound and located the child.

She was found in an old root cellar that was covered with plywood. Police said the girl apparently stepped on the plywood and it shifted, causing her to fall about six feet into the hole.

Long was able to reach Heather and remove her from the hole.

The girl had no visible injuries and appeared to be in good condition.

Police said they’re thankful for the public assistance in helping find the child.
