Some are appealing school cell tower permit
Controversy is still brewing over a cell tower T-Mobile plans to build on the grounds of Chubbuck Elementary School.
City officials tell Local News 8 at least three people have filed appeals against a conditional land use permit approved last month.
“Although the FCC does have a regulation stating that an application cannot be denied due to radiation exposure, that doesn’t make it correct or right, and this is the health and safety of our children,” said Niki Taysom, who is appealing the permit.
Wednesday night, Chubbuck City Council voted to table Taysom’s appeal until they can vote on it along with the other appeals.
Should T-Mobile build the tower, it will have to be at least 80 feet from the school’s playground. It will also be fenced off.
Final approval is still required from the District 25 school board before construction begins.
