Cal Ranch sale prompts Bingham County booms
The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office said it has solved the mystery of the explosions heard in the county last weekend.
Sheriff Craig Rowland told Local News 8 on Tuesday the cause is “perfectly legal” exploding targets.
The targets were on sale at Cal Ranch and were sold in 20-pound buckets. They can create a powerful explosion that is capable of shredding tree stumps.
The explosions were reported Christmas Eve in the Groveland area and again in the Riverside area Sunday night, but emergency responders did not find any indication of what may have caused them at that time.
