Man accused of Tautphaus Park murder found dead
The man accused of killing another man at Tautphaus Park has died.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s office said in a news release Brian J. Mitchell was found in his jail cell. The statement says “it appeared as though the inmate had committed suicide.”
Investigators from Bingham and Madison Counties are conducting the death investigation.
Mitchell was charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of Deraek Patrick Larson.
Larson was found dead at around 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 16th by a passerby in the playground area of Tautphaus Park. Police said it appeared Larson had been stabbed 20 times.
