Two arrested on drug charges during child welfare check

Idaho Falls Police officers arrested two people on drug related crimes following a welfare check at an apartment in the 600 block of Vassar Way Tuesday afternoon.

Shane D. Ruud, 48, of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail for felony possession of Heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wendy L. Lackey, 25, of Rexburg was booked into the Bonneville County Jail for two counts misdemeanor injury to a child and frequenting a place where drugs are used.

According to reports, officers responded to the residence on Vassar Way for a welfare check on two children around 1:30 p.m. Officers made contact with Ruud, Lackey and Lackey’s two children. During their contact, officers found Heroin and drug paraphernalia.

The two children were released to the custody of a relative.
