Up to 30 people will be certified in radiation safety under a $96,011 Idaho Workforce Development Training Fund grant.

Eastern Idaho Technical College will provide two 38-credit, 11-month radiation safety training programs. The programs will consist of classroom and lab instruction, human performance learning activities and supervised work experience.

The eastern Idaho partnership also includes $100,000 in cash from the Idaho National Laboratory and instructional support from CH2m-WG Idaho LL and Idaho Treatment Group.

The Idaho Department of Labor said at least 26 people are expected to be certified and placed in training-related employment within 120 days of completing the program. Hourly wages will range from between $20-$22 per hour.
