A number of planes crash in area over the past 6 months

Investigators still don’t know what caused a small plane to crash killing two married couples.

The crash happened Sunday in the early morning hours near the Idaho -Montana border near Alpine.

The plane took off from the Alpine airport.

The Bonneville County sheriff’s office said Jerry “David” Anderson, his wife Jessica Ann Anderson along with Thomas “Brook” Summers and his wife Heidi Summers were killed in the crash.

This isn’t the first time a plane has crashed near the Palisades area, in the last six months there have been three other crashes.

A small plane hit some power lines that went over the Snake River, just west of the Palisades Dam. The pilot was flying low to view the river and saw the power lines at the last moment and knocked them into the river.

In October, a 911 call was released of a daughter trying to save her father’s life when their plane crashed just north of the reservoir. Fourteen year-old Annabeth Hamilton was flown out of the woods to a nearby hospital. Her father Travis Hamilton was killed in the accident.

In January, in another accident, the plane crashed north of the airport along the reservoir, not far from where the most recent crash happened.

Mackenzie Ruston and Reade Genzlinger were both killed in the crash. Rescuers had to use snowmobiles to get to the scene.
