‘A Brush of Kindness’ visits Idaho Falls

Students from the University of Southern California are working with Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls area on community service projects.

Wednesday’s “A Brush with Kindness” project had 60 students painting the interior of Universalist Church in Idaho Falls.

The original project was painting the exterior of the church but due to the rain plans were changed.

Two rooms that were painted are located in the basement; the church was built in the 1940s.

Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Karen Lansing said, “This event will help the launching of our Neighborhood Revitalization Program.

Group member, Steven Crawford said this is a good opportunity for students.

“Its a different state, different community, we meet different people that are not like us,” Crawford said.

Crawford also said he sees the improvements.

“I think it wasn’t a very attractive space the way it was before, cleaning it out and putting a new coat of paint will hopefully be able to enjoy it more,” Crawford said.
