Jail situation delays kidnapper’s sentencing hearing

A man who was scheduled to be sentenced today was delayed because of a violent situation at the jail.

Devin Crawford was to appear in court for sentencing on a plea deal made with the county prosecutor.

The judge reported the hearing had to be continued because of a situation that happened at the Bonneville County jail. He didn’t say what the situation was or how Crawford was involved.

Crawford is charged with kidnapping Brandon Bykonen on August 27, 2015. Bykonen’s lost his left pinky finger.

The sentencing hearing was rescheduled for May 11th at 9 a.m. Crawford requested a psychological evaluation before the sentencing hearing.

Crawford is one of five people involved with the kidnapping. Alavaro Oseguera was sentenced Tuesday to 10 to 15 years in prison for 2nd degree kidnapping. Ivan Sandoval was sentenced March 7 to a rider program for witnessing a kidnapping and not reporting it.

Sarah Oden, Faustino Anaya are scheduled for sentencing at a later date.
