Hillary supporters push participation in Democratic caucus

It’s “Get Out the Caucus for Hillary Clinton” around the Gem State as Democrats prepare for the caucus on Tuesday.

On Sunday, some Bannock County residents volunteered their time to help remind voters about Tuesday’s caucus.

The organizer for the Clinton event in Bannock County, Mara Baron, said they have been working all weekend on getting word out about the caucus, and how important it is for people to participate.

“I think Hillary has said this multiple times, she’s fighting for every single vote,” said Baron. “And I think Bannock County is extremely important. There’s a lot of good Democrats here and we’re working as hard as we can to make sure that as many people come out to caucus and come out to caucus for Hillary.”

At Tuesday’s caucus, Democrats will vote to choose their presidential nominee. Sunday, Hillary supporters in Pocatello made calls and went door-to-door to remind fellow Clinton fans about the caucus.

Volunteers also made sure people were aware the caucus location had been changed from Idaho State University to the Shoshone-Bannock event center in Fort Hall.

Mey Rude, a first-time campaign volunteer, said she’s excited to be a part of the campaign and help gain support for Clinton.

“It’s been super fun and super rewarding and I just like being in the game and I just like being able to say that I was a part of this – part of history,” said Rude.

For those who can’t drive to Fort Hall to participate in Tuesday’s caucus, buses will be running from ISU’s student union building to the event center, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The caucus starts at 7 p.m.
