UPDATE: Two people dead after two-car crash near Lava Hot Springs

UPDATE: A 2007 Toyota Camry, driven by Austin Rausch, 18 of Idaho Falls, was eastbound on US30, when he crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2013 Nissan Versa, driven by Nyals Bodine, 34 of North Logan, UT.

Bodine and his passengers, Leah Tingey, 57 of North Logan, UT and Jeffrey Tingey, 61 of North Logan, UT, were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Nyals Bodine and Leah Tingey succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Jeffrey Tingey was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center.

Rausch was not wearing his seatbelt and was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center.

ORIGINAL STORY:

One male and one female are dead after a two-car crash on U.S. 30 near Lava Hot Springs Sunday afternoon.

Idaho State Police said the crash occurred just after 3 p.m. when the driver of a grey Toyota swerved into the opposite lane, hitting a red Nissan.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital, via ground ambulance. There were no other people in the Toyota. The driver and one passenger of the Nissan were killed. The other passenger of the Nissan was life-flighted.

ISP is still investigating the cause of the accident.
