Fire season preparations
Fire season is approaching quickly and the high temperatures could prove to be a problem in a couple of months. Fire crews, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), forest services and others are preparing for possible wildfires erupting throughout the gem state.
Even though nature is unpredictable, it doesn’t stop people from wondering what this year’s fire season will be like. Nevertheless, it does depend on many different factors we still won’t know for some time.
“It really depends on what we’re going to see in June, if we get a lot of rain and we see a lot of that greening and grass starting to grow and then July and August get really hot; it could be a bad fire season. But if we get the moisture we’ve gotten previously through the last few years, we didn’t generate the sparks that we normally see,” said Sarah Wheeler, Public Affairs Specialist for the BLM.
Fire season in the Idaho Falls-Pocatello region usually begins in late August.
