Idaho Falls man arrested for battery and blocking a 911 call
Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Devan A. Sanford, 28, on charges of aggravated battery and preventing a 911 call.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to Brome Street at 7:45 p.m. Monday on a report that a 54-year-old woman had been attacked and was locked in a bathroom of her residence.
Deputies located the woman, who said Sanford had been visiting two children at the home. Officers said Sanford was the father of at least one of the toddlers. She told deputies she attempted to call 911 during an argument, but Sanford took the phone away and put her in a choke hold.
The victim said she got away from Sanford and locked herself and the children in a bathroom until deputies arrived. According to officers, the woman had visible injuries, but refused medical assistance at the scene. She said they had been arguing about the amount of time Sanford spent with the children.
Sanford was not on the scene when deputies arrived. They found him in Idaho Falls a short time later and placed him under arrest.
