State Board of Edu. looking to create statewide accountability system
Educators in Bonneville School District 93 met Wednesday to discuss how they assess their students. This is a good way to keep the district and schools accountable — especially because the state wants to implement a statewide accountability system.
“Our district mission is ‘Student Success by Design’. This process truly designs a plan for that will allow for student success,” said Bonneville School District math elementary curriculum specialist Rodd Rapp.
The Idaho State Board of Education is trying to get a new accountability system adopted and is holding forums across the state to get public input. A forum will be in Idaho Falls Wednesday night to get opinions on the best way to hold our public schools accountable for performance.
District 93 already has its system in place despite there being no statewide system.
“District 93 we fell that it is very important to have an accountability system. We are holding ourselves accountable for the essential standards that students need to know in order to be ready for the next grade level, or to be ready for college and career,” Rapp said.
The State Board of Education’s public forums are Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Eastern Idaho Technical College; and tomorrow, same time, at ISU in Pocatello.
