A cabin in southeastern Idaho is being recognized by USA Today
According to a recent list by USA Today of each state’s best getaway spot, a cabin in Fish Haven was voted Idaho’s best place.
The cabin is part of the Bear Lake Reserve cabins. It’s 12,000 square feet, making it one of the largest rental cabins in Idaho. It has 13 bedrooms and 8 1/2 baths. It can sleep 42 people.
It was completed in May after two years of work. It was built with a lot of custom detail.
The owners picked different themes for each room. Some of the bedroom themes include Paris, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, seaside escape, and Legos.
There’s also a movie theater build to resemble a mine.
“There’s some fun elements to this house that are very personal and make it very unique,” said Allen Turner, the owner.
Turner said one of the best parts about the cabin is the great views it offers. He said every window in the cabin was built to make sure and utilize a great view of the beautiful surroundings. There’s also a skybox offering a 360-degree view of Bear Lake and all its surrounding moutains.
A resident of Salt Lake City, Turner said his reason for buying the cabin was simple.
“I can go to a movie and sit for two hours or I could for two hours and spend the weekend somewhere,” he said. “So we wanted to be somewhere that was close driving distance, and that wasn’t too far away that you never want to use it.”
Turner said it’s a great vacation spot for his family, and he hopes renters will enjoy it too. But he said he never expected how popular it would be, or how quickly. And he said he definitely never expected to make USA Today’s radar.
“I was really surprised to get a phone call actually, and find that out,” Turner said. “I man, gratified I suppose. We didn’t set out to do that, but it’s nice I suppose to be recognized for all the time and effort and thought process we put into it. To be compared nationally, that’s pretty cool.”
The cabin also includes a mini-apartment area that is all ADA compliant.
