Idaho Falls School District puts out new RFQs for possible new school to replace IFHS
Idaho Falls School District put out new request for qualifications for contract managers and design services.
The board of trustees is trying to figure out the best ways to upgrade and modernize both Idaho Falls and Skyline High Schools, but the board also recently considered a new high school to replace Idaho Falls High School altogether.
In the meantime, the board is continuing to look at where a new school might be located and what would happen to the existing Idaho Falls high school building. Once those questions are resolved, the board will start making final decisions about the best way to move forward with this project.
“It might make sense to do a complete redesign of Skyline, but because some of the issues around Idaho Falls High School, it is worth looking at what it would take to replace Idaho Falls High School with a new school,” said Margaret Wimborne, Idaho Falls School District director of communications and community engagement.
RFQs were in already place for redesigning the high schools, but the board needs these new RFQs for building a whole new school. Proposals are due Nov. 28. The board hopes to make a selection on the services before the end of the year. The decision on whether to build a new high school won’t be made until sometime next year.
