Sears is coming back to Bannock County
Sears is coming back to Pocatello – and just in time for Christmas.
Tim England and his father, Doug, will be the owners. The store will be located at 2215 Garrett Way.
Tim England said even though the store will be backed by Sears and have everything Sears has to offer, it will be locally owned and operated.
He said he has been looking to own or franchise a company for quite some time. He said he originally tried Chick-fil-A but they turned him down. He said he then considered something like Daylight Donuts but then he saw an ad in the paper about franchising a Sears location. He decided to give it and try and now he said, here he is.
England said the store will sell the top 10 manufacturers of kitchen appliances. He said they will also offer Craftsman and Husqvarna tools and equipment. He said the warranty on Craftsman can also be honored at the store, even if it was bought before this location was open. England said the store will also offer a Sears card and a kiosk for online orders.
England said it’s been a lot of work, but he’s hoping this store will help Pocatello grow and develop. He also hopes it will help drive more business to Garrett Way.
“I am really excited,” he said. “I mean, and I think that’s for lots of reasons, is it’s a new chapter in my life which I’m excited about. But I really think of Pocatello as a whole gets behind it, big things are going to happen.”
The store is scheduled to open with its soft opening on Nov. 17. England said he also hopes to have a grand opening event around Dec. 22.
The former Sears location was in the Pine Ridge Mall in Chubbuck. It closed its doors in 2014.
