Blackfoot church hosts open door ‘Election Eve Communion’

A huge majority of the American public seems to be worried about the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, and it’s for that reason Jason Lee Memorial Methodist Church in Blackfoot opened its doors Monday for everyone to come together.

Dubbed an “Election Eve Communion,” the Rev. Patti Money said the goal of Monday’s service was to prepare people’s hearts and minds for voting, and also to center people’s minds on JesusChrist.

Part of a national movement that started during the 2012 race, Money said church leadership decided to host a service this year after seeing a polarizing and divisive race.

“This is a chance for us all to come together and remember who our hearts belong to and who makes us one,” Money said. “That’s Christ.”

Anyone was welcome to attend the service.

Other United Methodist Churches in our area that hosted election communion services were Trinity and St. Paul’s in Idaho Falls, as well as the Pocatello Methodist Church.
