Chubbuck company launches solar-powered charger

In its first week, Inergy Solar’s new Indie Gogo campaign for its Raptor product is already drawing a lot of hype.

The Raptor is a device you can use to charge your mobile electronic devices and it can recharge with sunlight. The company is touting it as the world’s first of its kind. The campaign is being used as a base for pre-orders.

Jared Grover, Inergy Solar’s vice president of sales, said its appeal comes from the fact anyone these days can have one or more mobile device on hand.

“(For example) everybody carries a cellphone,” Grover said. “Everybody’s worried about battery level and this is something that really solves that.”

Grover said the product is very popular with hikers, hunters and anyone who’s outdoors frequently.

For every 10 Raptors sold, the company will be donating one to a nonprofit or charity.
