Wyoming jobless rate falls to 5.1 percent in October
Wyoming’s unemployment rate fell to 5.1 percent in October as counties with big energy industries saw some jobs improvement.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says that the October rate is down from September’s 5.4 percent and the state’s jobless rate has now fallen for three consecutive months.
Seasonally adjusted employment of Wyoming residents increased by an estimated 1,800 individuals from September to October.
Campbell, Natrona and Converse counties all saw their jobless rates dip. The three counties have been hit particularly hard by the recent downturn in the mineral extraction industry.
Still, Campbell and Natrona counties had the highest unemployment rates in October at 6.3 percent.
Albany County posted the lowest unemployment rate at 2.8 percent, followed by Niobrara at 2.9 percent, and Teton and Goshen at 3 percent.
