Serial car thief arrested in Bingham County
A Utah man is in custody in Bingham County on multiple car-theft charges.
Sheriff Craig Rowland said Steven Ray Fillmore,32, of South Jordan, Utah stole a vehicle in Utah and drove to Idaho. In Idaho, Rowland said Fillmore stole a pickup and trailer and put the stolen Utah car on the trailer. The pickup and trailer then got stuck.
Fillmore then attempted to use another stolen vehicle to get the Utah car off the trailer. When that didn’t work, he stole another pickup and took it as far as Shelley, where it also got stuck.
Rowland said the man then stole another vehicle in Shelley and led Sheriff’s Deputies and Shelley Police on a short chase.
Shelley Police arrested Fillmore early Tuesday morning on five charges of grand theft.
Rowland said the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office believes Fillmore may have been involved in a number of vehicle burglaries that are still under investigation.
Blackfoot Police detectives also participated in the investigation.
