Daughter of BYU running backs coach dies

The 3-year-old daughter of BYU running backs coach Reno Mahe died Tuesday evening following an accident at her home last week.

“Our Elsie girl has officially been released to heaven – at least from a worldly, paperwork standpoint,” Elsie’s mother Sunny, wrote in the Facebook group Mahe Update. “Her second neurological death exam was also positive for brain death.”

,Elsie Mahe was found tangled in the cord of window blinds at the family’s Utah home last Tuesday, according to her mother, Sunny Mahe. On Sunday, Sunny said Elsie’s condition was not improving.

“We feel peace and we are again so grateful for the privilege of being Elsie’s parents,” Sunny wrote, continuing the Facebook update. “She continues to sprinkle love and hope across the world and I am in awe of the Lord and His marvelous plan for my sweet girl.”

In a post on Sunday, Elsie’s mother said her daughter would be an organ donor.

“The miraculous healing we have been praying for is not FOR Elsie, but FROM Elsie,” Sunny wrote. “We met this morning with a representative from the hospital organ donation team and feel confident that this is the Lord’s will for Elsie – to be a life-saving miracle for others. It is not the miracle that we wanted, but it is the one we got. It is still a miracle.”

Funeral services have not been set.
