Pebble Creek Ski Resort preparing for opening day
Recent snowfall has allowed some local ski resorts to open for the season. The Jackson and Targhee Ski Resorts opened on Thursday. Pebble Creek Ski Resort in Inkom isn’t open yet, but it’s getting ready.
Right now, it’s finishing some remodeling work, checking maintenance on the ski lifts and working on their CAT machines. It will also start training employees this week.
Mary Reichman, manager of the resort, said it has about 19 inches of snow at the top of the resort. It needs at least 30 inches before it can open.
So while the resort awaits the next big snowfall, it’s making preparations for the season. And those who visit Pebble Creek this season will see some changes.
One of the biggest projects is remodeling the lodge.
“The upstairs of the lodge has been remodeled and we are going to be having more in the way of breakfast options, which we’re real excited about,” Reichman said. “Downstairs in the bar, we have an awesome new counter, new carpet, brighter lights and lots of TVs everywhere.”
But besides a new look, Pebble Creek will also be getting a new view.
“One of the things that’s going to be really fun is a lot of webcams have been installed so people will be able to go to our website and see all over what’s happening on the mountain,” Reichman said. “That’s definitely a thing to look forward to.”
The changes are due to new ownership. The new owner, Shay Butler, bought the resort in October. Butler is known for his YouTube channel and videos, known as Shay Carl, or “Shaytards.”
Reichman said Butler is excited to be running the resort and she is looking forward to the season with them.
“Our new owners have loved the mountain,” she said. “They grew up on the mountain, it’s special to them. And there’s just this very positive, very fun energy with this whole new crew.”
Since the resort has to wait until there’s enough snowfall, it doesn’t have a scheduled opening day.
Information on prices and a schedule of events can be found on the resort’s website.
