Woman settles rape lawsuit against North Idaho College

North Idaho College has agreed to settle a lawsuit by a woman who said she was gang-raped as a freshman and the college failed to do anything when she reported it.

Spokesman Tom Greene tells The Spokesman-Review in a story on Thursday that the college admitted no wrongdoing in reaching the $75,000 settlement through its insurer.

Greene says the settlement limits costs and the distraction of litigation.

Boise attorney Rebecca Rainey says her client agreed to settle to put the matter behind her.

The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court says the rape took place at an off-campus party in 2013.

The woman says that after reporting the rape, the college didn’t investigate and then disciplined her when she began drinking and acting out.
