One homeowner tells us that their entire basement was flooded while they were away from the home. Utility and restoration companies haven’t been able to come to the home yet because they are backed up with multiple calls from all around Bonneville County.
Original story: The City of Ammon confirms that flooding water from melting snow and ice is moving towards homes near Barton Circle. Crews from the city are starting to help fill and place sandbags in the area to prevent flooding from reaching homes.
BonnevilleCounty Sheriff’s Office wants to remind drivers to adjust their driving to accommodate changing road conditions because of the water. Snowmelt and rain is causing several areas to be covered with water at varying depths, along with frozen black ice areas from the overnight drop in temperatures. Drivers should use extreme caution in their driving and pay attention to these water covered areas as they may have hidden potholes, washouts, or icy spots that could cause you to lose control and crash.
Bonneville County Road and Bridge crews are working to identify and sign areas affected and along with the Sheriff’s Office are monitoring areas for potential flooding. Keep in mind that rapidly changing weather rapidly changes road conditions and road crews are doing their best to keep up with it. If you see areas where water flowing in the road is creating a hazard please contact dispatch at 208-529-1200 and a Deputy or the appropriate resources will be contacted to attempt to rectify it.
We are working to get more details on the flooding situation and will update with more details as they become available.
