Man killed in crash between Carey and Arco
A man is dead after a car crash on US 20/26/93 at milepost 222 between Carey and Arco Thursday morning.
According to Idaho State Police, Jeremy Sommers, 22 of West Valley, Utah drove westbound on US 20/26/93 in a 2003 Peterbilt semi. Sommers was pulling 3 trailers loaded with hay bales. The rear trailer flipped onto the driver’s side and spilt a load of hay into the eastbound lane.
Ryan Yancey,31 from Portland, Oregon was driving on the other side of the highway in a 2013 Freightliner, pulling a 2014 utility box trailer. Yancey hit the hay bales, and then struck a large snow berm off the south side of the road. Yancey died from his injuries at the crash site.
The road shut down for about 6 hours.
