Madison County home complete loss in fire

Damage has been estimated at between $800,000 and $900,000 at a house fire at 9138 Outlaw Pass on the South Menan Butte Tuesday night. It is considered a total loss. The Central Fire District said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. It was initially reported as a kitchen fire. The home was completely engulfed in flame that had broken through the roof when firefighters arrived just before 7:30 p.m. No one was in the house. The Madison Fire Department also responded to the fire and helped keep it from spreading to an adjacent structure. A portable drop tank was used to shuttle water to a tank to maintain firefighting operations. Two firefighters were treated and monitored for heat exhaustion.

Fire crews from Madison and Jefferson Counties responded to a house fire Tuesday night on Outlaw pass in Madison County.
The fire sent a plume of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.
The family was across the street when they saw smoke and returned to find the house on fire. No one was hurt, the home is a complete loss.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
