Power line fire destroys two cars in downtown Driggs

An excavation accident at the intersection of Depot and Main Street in Driggs caused a fire at around 10 a.m. Thursday. Teton County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal Earle Giles said the excavator was working on a water line on Depot Street and struck an overhead power line. The energized line fell on two parked cars and the front of Total Image Salon and started a fire. Firefighters were forced to wait until Fall River Electric could de-energize the power line. The store front suffered significant damage and the two cars were destroyed. Giles said one store employee was treated and released for minor injuries.
