Nearly 2 thousand Idaho Falls customers affected by power outage

Update: 12:12 p.m. Power was restored to most of the affected area by around 12:10 p.m. Monday. Idaho Falls power approximately 3,000 customers were affected. Original Story: 1,955 Idaho Falls Power customers were without electricity at around 11:15 a.m. Monday. The affected area is near Tautphaus Park in the southwest sector of Idaho Falls. The outage originated at the Rack substation after lightning struck it. Idaho Falls Power said the outage was caused by a transformer failure. Crews are on the scene and hope to have it repaired by about 12:30 p.m.
