Ammon fiber project wins state recognition
The city of Ammon has been recognized by the Association of Idaho Cities for having “the best economic and community development project” for an Idaho city in 2017. The honor was awarded during the association’s annual banquet in Boise Thursday. Projects were evaluated based on their impact on improving the quality of life, solving a community problem, reducing the cost of government, and increasing city services with a minimal outlay of money. Ammon was recognized for constructing its first fiber local improvement district (LID), providing access to over 300 homes by fall. A second LID, involving another 300 homes, is scheduled later this year. It should be complete by late 2018.
