Democrats launch state-wide training initiative
This summer the Democratic party is launching a statewide training initiative. It’s called resistance summer training. County organizers will be visiting 14 towns in Idaho, including Bannock County.
Organizers will be in Bannock County in August. The plan is to build the party up from its foundation, starting at the precinct level. The goal is to spread the word about the party and help train first-time activists. In general, members of the party said it’s a way to help fight current harmful administration policies in Washington, D.C. and also to help get more Democrats elected to office.
Members feel this training could be very beneficial and are excited to see what it brings to the table.
“As somone that lives here in Bannock County, I’m really excited to see it coming to Bannock County,” said Bert Marley, state chairman of the Idaho Democratic party. “And that we have the opportunity to have an organizer to help train people, to help get people enthused and excited about the process. There’s a lot of energy out there, a lot of concern about what’s happening and so there’s a lot of interest in doing this sort of thing.”
Aug. 17 will be the party’s big door-knocking event in Bannock County to try and gain more interest and support for the party.
