AK-47 Bandit in custody, press conference in Rexburg
A man who has been on the run for five years is finally in custody. The Rexburg Police Department held a press conference Wednesday morning about the capture of the “AK-47 Bandit.”
Wanted suspect Richard Gathercole robbed a credit union in Rexburg in 2012 and has since committed several crimes in three other states, including other bank robberies and attempted murder of a California police officer.
He was arrested in Nebraska last week.
At Wednesday’s press conference, police said it’s unclear what happens next as far as if he’ll be extradited or appear in a federal court.
The investigation is still ongoing.
