Idaho Museum of Natural History holds fundraiser for wildland firefighters

The Idaho Museum of Natural History in Pocatello held a special fundraiser on Saturday.

The museum donated all of its proceeds from the day to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation. The museum curator said fires are a very important and relevant topic for the Pocatello area. He said it would be hard to find someone who isn’t related to, knows someone, or in some way connected with, firefighters. Especially after the recent Power Line Fire near Pocatello, it got the museum thinking of how to help fire crews who fought so hard to protect homes and lives.

So the curator said they came up with the idea of donating proceeds to the foundation. That way the foundation can use the money for whatever the firefighters needs are.

Saturday, the museum raised about $300 for the foundation.

The fundraiser also goes hand-in-hand with one of the museum’s current exhibits, which is about wildfires in Idaho and wildfire prevention.

The museum’s curator said they hope to make the fundraiser an annual event.
