Bonneville County burn ban begins today August 14

The Bonneville County Commissioners issued a ban on open fires and burning starting today, August 14 until September 29, 2017.

The commissioner’s resolution states no open fires or burning is allowed in the unincorporated areas of Bonneville County on all private property.

The only burning allowed under this ban would be in approved campfire pits in improved campgrounds, picnic and recreation areas.

Because of the extreme dry conditions and influx of people to the area for the eclipse, the Bonneville County Commissioners and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office urges everyone to comply with this ordinance and take extra precautions with vehicles in dry areas, campfires and smoking so as to prevent any accidental fire issues.

Agricultural burning will only be allowed with a permit; however, Bonneville County is not issuing any permits at this time.

State lands, National Forests and BLM ground is also on restricted fire status.
