Bannock County Sheriff says reported smoke and fire is not Powerline Fire

The Bannock County’s Sheriff’s Office said it has received multiple calls from people concerned about a lot of smoke and fire in the area near where the Power Line Fire burned about a week ago.

Some residents were concerend the Power Line Fire had reignited and was burning again. The sheriff’s office said that is not the case. It is not the Power Line Fire. The sheriff’s office said the Bureau of Land Management is currently performing some burnout operations and that is what people can see.

The BLM has the fire 100% contained and are in control of the fire. The sheriff’s office said the smoke in the area is from those burnout operations and the wind is driving the smoke to spread.

The sheriff’s office said it is in close contact with the BLM. There is no fire danger or threat to the public.
