Nonresident elk and deer tags sold out forfirst time in nearly a decade

There are no more nonresident elk or nonresident deer tags left in the Gem State.

Idaho Fish and Game announced this is the first time since 2008 all nonresident tags have sold.

They used to sell out within two months of them going on sale, but the sale of tags has slowed down.

IDFG says the recession could be to blame, and the re-introduction of wolves has also impacted the deer population.

For hunters looking forward to next year, 2018 nonresident deer and elk tags go on sale Dec. 1, 2017 for most deer and elk hunts.
