Hernandez pleads guilty to Ammon murder
Jameion K. Hernandez, 20, has entered a plea of guilty in connection to the death of Lisa Stukey.
Stukey’s nearly mummified remains were found in her Ammon home on July 1, 2017. Investigators said she apparently died of blunt force trauma caused by a baseball bat. Hernandez was arrested and charged in connection with the case on July 20.
Bonneville County Prosecutor Daniel Clark said the plea agreement requires Hernandez to plead guilty. In exchange, the state will drop its call for a death penalty. Both sides will be permitted to argue their position on how much minimum time on a life sentence Hernandez will be required to serve.
Clark said he believed that given Hernandez’ age and lack of a significant criminal record, the plea was appropriate.
During initial hearings, it was disclosed that Stukey had been romantically involved with Hernandez’ grandfather, Dwayne.
Hernandez is now scheduled to appear for sentencing on a first degree murder charge July 16 before 7th District Judge Dane Watkins, Jr.
