Crash injures several people near Idaho/Montana border

Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle injury crash near the Idaho/Montana border involving a woman from Pocatello.

Friday at 5:47 p.m., Idaho State Police got reports of a two-vehicle, injury crash on US 93 at milepost 346, 4 miles south of the Idaho/Montana border.

Lindsey Smoot, 21, of Pocatello, was northbound on US 93 in a 2004 Ford Escape. Malcom Vickery, 60, of Rocky Ridge, Utah was southbound on US 93 in a 2006 Chevrolet Express van. The Ford went into the southbound lanes as it negotiated a curve, where it struck the Chevrolet.

Everyone in the Chevrolet was wearing seatbelts, Smoot was not.

Smoot and multiple occupants of the Chevrolet were transported to Steele Memorial Medical Center in Salmon by ground ambulance.

The southbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately three hours.

The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
