Bonneville County orders burn ban
Bonneville County Commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to order a burn ban. The order takes effect immediately and continues through September 30.
Due to extremely dry conditions and the threat of severe wildfire, commissioners determined the conditions posed a real threat to life and property.
The declaration bans open fires of any kind on all private property in unincorporated areas of the county. The exceptions include campfires built within an approved pit at improved campgrounds or picnic areas, and smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, building or developed recreation site.
Burn permits are required for agricultural burning, but no permits are being issued at this time.
