Hailey area pre-evacuation orders issued
The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office has issued additional pre-evacuation notice to people living in portions of Hailey.
The affected area is north and east of the intersection of Buttercup Road and Myrtle Street. The pre-evacuation extends north to East Fork Road and includes all residents on the east side of Highway 75.
People who live in the area are directed to start preparing for evacuation immediately. The sheriff’s office said people should begin moving large animals and livestock now to avoid getting caught trying to move livestock and trailers in smoke, fire, or significant road congestion.
People should also organize essential documents or valuables, medications, and pets. And make sure family members have everything in a place to grab quickly if they are forced to leave.
The sheriff’s office said it would try to notify people directly in case of a mandatory evacuation order, but could not guarantee that because of the unpredictable nature of fire.
The order came as the Sawtooth National Forest implementing a large area closure in the Ketchum Ranger District. Unless it is lifted, the closure will remain in effect until the end of September.
