Eastern Idaho celebrates World Breastfeeding Week

Eastern Idaho Public Health’s Women, Infants and Children program and the Breastfeeding Education and Support Team Council for Babies and Moms held its annual breastfeeding event in Idaho Falls on Friday. It is in part with World Breastfeeding Week.

Each year the event had been a picnic, but this year EIPH are changing it up and hosting a carnival at it’s Idaho Falls office, 1250 Hollipark Dr.

The carnival was free for anyone that is interested in learning more about breastfeeding or celebrating breastfeeding as the “gold standard for infant feeding.”

“We thought a carnival would be fun and kind of lighthearted way to promote breastfeeding because breastfeeding is kind of a serious and some people take it a little more serious than it should be,” said Katie Leask, the breastfeeding coordinator for WIC. “We just want to make it to be normal and fun.”
