Forest fire breaks out in Teton County
UPDATE: 8-6 11:25 a.m.
Teton County, Idaho and interagency firefighters quickly controlled a fire in the Game Creek drainage near Victor Sunday night.
Teton County Fire Marshal Chief Earle Giles said gusty winds Sunday probably stoked embers from a lightning strike a week ago. Because the fire was burning on BLM and Forest Service ground, Forest Service crews joined engines from Victor, Tetonia, Driggs and Swan Valley along with a helicopter based in Pocatello.
The fire was reported at around 5 p.m. and was fully under control by 9:30. p.m.
Giles said firefighters worked to protect two structures on the north side of the fire that could have been threatened if the fire had not been brought under control. The fire was held to approximately 3 acres.
